Transition

Set against a minimalist backdrop, Transition is a browser puzzle-platformer about guiding a sad little creature toward a platform of the same color. Its central objective is direct: find the right color for the creature and help it reach the matching platform. That simplicity gives the game its pressure, because the player must also watch the time limit and avoid black platforms, both of which can end the run. The design uses color matching as more than a visual rule. Progress depends on reading when the creature and platform align, then committing without drifting into a losing route. Precision timing matters, but the challenge is not only about reflexes; patient synchronization with the color changes can make movement feel more controlled than rushing from platform to platform. Transition was created during Bratislava Game Jam 2016, where it won the Attendee Choice category. The event theme was also “transition,” a fitting frame for a game built around change, uncertainty, and finding the correct state before time or hazards cut the attempt short.
